Who we are

Build This Plan is operated by Bite Media LLC(“we”, “us”). Questions about this policy go to hello@buildthisplan.com or by mail to Bite Media LLC, 2261 Northpark Dr #2078, Kingwood, TX 77339.

What we collect

  • Build review requests. Your name, email, phone if you give it, county and ZIP, whether you own a lot, your timeline, budget and how you are paying, any notes or plan you send, whether you want a pool, an interior designer or landscape work, and whether you let the pros on your list see your project. If you do, we record when, exactly which builders and pros it covers, and each introduction you confirm or decline.
  • Plan purchases. Payment runs through Stripe Checkout. Stripe gives us your name, email, phone, billing address and what you paid. We never see or store your card number.
  • Accounts. Your name, email and a scrambled (hashed) password, or your Google account name and email if you sign in with Google. Each sign in records the IP address and browser it came from, to keep sessions secure.
  • Pro profiles. What you enter: business name, trade, city, home ZIP and service radius, website, phone, bio, credentials and photos. For designers who get paid here, the ID of the Stripe account payouts go to. For builders who pay per lead, the Stripe customer and saved card IDs, the card brand and last four digits, and each lead charge and refund; Stripe holds the card itself.
  • Files you upload. Drawing sets, CAD files, estimates, renderings and photos. Change requests keep the messages and quotes in the thread.
  • Saved plans. The plans you press the heart on, kept with your account (saving a plan needs an account). The plans you tick to compare stay in your browser.
  • New plan alerts. Your email and what you asked to hear about (style, bedrooms, size). Nothing is sent until you press the confirm link we email, and every alert email has a link that stops them. The address is used for these alerts and nothing else.
  • Reviews. When you review a plan you bought or a pro you agreed to meet, from the link we email you, we keep your rating, your words and your email (which is never shown). We read each review before publishing it.
  • Referral links. If you arrive through a pro's referral link (an address starting /r/), we note that pro on a plan you buy or a build review you send in the next 30 days.
  • Engineer requests. When you tell us a plan needs an engineer, your name, email, phone and the note, so we can put you in touch with one.
  • Our own counts. Our server writes a row when something happens: a page of the site is loaded (the page, and which kind of site sent you there, such as a search engine, or the other site's name; whether a pro's referral link brought you is read from the referral cookie below), a plan page is viewed, a checkout starts, an order is paid or refunded, a build review or a change request is sent, an introduction is asked for or confirmed, a pro joins or is approved, a plan is published, someone joins a plan's waiting list, a ZIP is looked up on the home page or a plan page (the ZIP itself is kept), a plan is saved, a plan alert is confirmed, plans are compared, a sample purchase walkthrough is opened, a pro's referral link is opened or leads to a purchase or build review, or a review is sent or published. A row holds what happened, when, the plan, order or account it was about, and the campaign tags (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign) of the link you arrived on, if it had any. For a page load it also holds the country, state and city our host works out from the request. It holds no cookie or visitor id, and no name, email or IP address. Requests from known bots are not counted. The tags also travel with your Stripe checkout and your build review, so we can see which links bring buyers.
  • Page views. Vercel Web Analytics counts visits to each page without cookies: the page, the site that sent you, and your browser, operating system, device type and country as worked out from the request. We see only totals.

Who we share it with

  • The pros you confirm. If you tick the introductions box on a build review, the builders and pros on your list see your project: the county and ZIP, your lot, timeline, budget and financing answers, what else you asked for, and your notes. They do not see your name, email or phone. When one asks to be introduced, we email you, and only a pro you say yes to gets your name, email and phone. Builders affiliated with the site are held to the same rule. Builders may pay us a fee when you accept their introduction; that never changes what they see or when. Leave the box empty and no pro sees your request at all. The same box in the plan checkout ("Send my project to builders near my lot") makes your purchase a request the same way: the builders covering your lot ZIP see the plan, the area and any timeline and budget you chose, never your contact details, until you confirm one. If no builder on the site covers your lot and you ask to hear when one joins, we keep that request, show it to no pro, and email you once one does; nothing is shown to that builder until you press yes on the page the email links to. We keep your details ourselves to write your review.
  • An independent engineer. When you ask for one, we pass your contact details to a Texas licensed engineer so they can reach you. We do not provide engineering, and we take no fee or commission from the engineer; they quote and bill you directly.
  • The plan's designer. When you ask for changes to a plan, the designer who drew it sees your name and the thread. Designers do not see build review requests.
  • Services that run the site. Stripe (payments, and Stripe Connect payouts to designers, where Stripe collects the designer's identity and bank details directly). GoHighLevel, our customer database, which sends our emails and text messages and holds the build review requests. Cloudflare R2 (file storage), Neon (the account database) and Vercel (hosting and the cookieless page view counts above). Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google. Each handles data for us under its own terms.
  • The pro whose referral link you used. They see that a plan was bought or a build review was sent through their link: the plan, the date and the amount. Never your name, email, phone or address. It is tracking so they know when a client buys.
  • The public. A pro profile, once we approve it, and an approved plan's page, which names its designer. A review once we publish it, with your rating, your words, “Verified buyer” and the month, never your name or email; the pro or designer reviewed may post a reply. Drawing sets and CAD files are never public.

We do not sell your information, and we do not run advertising pixels or tracking cookies on this site. The only analytics are our own counts and Vercel's cookieless page views, both described above. We may disclose information when the law requires it.

The stamp on your plans

Every drawing set we deliver is stamped on each sheet with the buyer's name, the address on file, the plan number, the license, the order number and the date. That is the license record. Anyone you hand the set to (your builder, engineer, the permit office) will see it. See plan licensing.

Cookies

The ones that keep you signed in: a session cookie when you sign in, and a short lived one during Google sign in. And one more if you open a pro's referral link: it holds that pro's public page name for 30 days, so a purchase or build review in that time is credited to them, and nothing else. The plans you tick to compare sit in your browser's local storage, which only this site can read and which you can clear in your browser settings. No advertising or tracking cookies, and page views are counted without any. Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout page. The service area map pros see in their account loads map tiles from OpenStreetMap, which sees your IP address when it sends them.

Your choices

  • Turn contact off. Every email about a build review carries a link that turns contact off for your email. The pros it went to then see it as withdrawn, without your name, email or phone, you are not introduced to anyone new, and we stop asking you for reviews. Review request emails carry the same link. A pro you already spoke with directly may still have what you told them.
  • See, correct or delete. Ask at hello@buildthisplan.com for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. We keep order records as long as the license they prove matters to you and as tax law requires, and we will tell you if anything has to stay.
  • Your account. Change your password any time from the sign in page. Pros can edit their profile, and ask us to take it down.

How long we keep it, and how

Accounts last until you ask us to close them. Build review requests stay in our customer database until you ask us to delete them. Files and order records sit in private storage that only our own server can read; delivery links are signed and expire.

Children

This site is for adults planning a house. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes

When we change what we collect or who we share it with, we update this page and the date at the top. See also our terms of use.
