About Build This Plan

What it is

Build This Plan sells house plans drawn by named designers, lists what each drawing set leaves out before you pay, and introduces you to builders and other pros near where you are building, where any on the site cover your lot and if you want that. It is operated by Bite Media LLC. It is not a builder and it does not provide engineering.

How it works

• Buyers. Browse plans, buy a license, and ask for a build review. Builders whose service area covers your lot can see the project, never your name or number, until you say yes to each one.
• Designers. Set your own price and keep 70 percent of every sale, with no exclusivity. Sell your plans.
• Builders and other pros. List free anywhere in the US. How the builder list works.

How plans are reviewed

Nothing a designer or pro sends in is public until it is reviewed. A plan is approved only when its listed numbers match its drawing set. Plans are not sealed by an engineer.

Where the numbers come from

• Plan specs come from the designer and are checked against the drawings.
• County notes on permitting, soil and windstorm name their sources on each county page. We do not publish a cost per square foot.
• Permit counts and values come from the US Census Bureau Building Permits Survey.

The rules

• Nobody pays for position on a list.
• A buyer approves every introduction. No pro gets a name, email or phone without a yes.
• Designers keep 70 percent of every sale.
• We do not provide engineering. When you ask, we put you in touch with an independent engineer who quotes and bills you directly.
• We take no fee or commission from engineers or surveyors.

Affiliation

Brixton Development, a builder on the list. Affiliated with Build This Plan. Follows the same introduction rules as every builder: your details reach it only after you say yes.
